The One Seat — The Contrast

A busy standard coach against one quiet seat. The escape framing. No announced opening time anywhere in this set — that is the one thing separating idea 2 from the Seat Release set, so this flow has five states, not six. Same journey, prices and one seat in all three variants. Both outcomes are reachable.

This variant makes a claim we cannot yet evidence. “Standard is packed” is a statement about occupancy that we cannot currently support per service; today we can only say “peak commuter service”. It is here because it is the thing under test: if C does not win, this ships without ever needing LNER’s standard-class load factor. Never point a crowding claim at First Class, which on these services is usually not full.

One of one

The quiet seat went to someone else.

It went at £52. There was one, on a peak commuter service, so most people were always going to stay where they are.

You haven’t been charged. Nothing left your card.
Your Advance Single is valid only on the 07:12, so we’re not going to offer you a different train. Your seat in Standard is unchanged.
